First oil change since I bought it

Guy I bought it from in July couldn't tell me when the oil was last changed, just "pretty sure the dealer did it". Three months and a little over 3,000 miles of commuting later that was starting to bug me, so Sunday morning it got done in the garage under my building. Management is fine with it as long as nothing ends up on the concrete, so drain pan, a flattened box and half a roll of paper towels.

Went with the Motul kit for the 300/400, three liters of 7100 10W-40 and a K&N filter in one box. The bike takes about two quarts with the filter, so there's a liter on the shelf for next time. Old oil came out darker than I expected, not scary, just tired. New crush washer on the drain plug, and this time I torqued it to spec instead of by feel, which is how I stripped a drain plug on my first bike.

Odometer says 12,260. Kawasaki says every 7,600 miles or once a year, so the next one lands somewhere around 20k. Valve check is due at 15k and that one goes to the shop, I'm not pulling the tank in a parking garage.

Afternoon hit 77 and sunny so I took it up Lookout Mountain to get the new oil properly warm. Probably one of the last Sundays like that this year, it was 42 when I came down to do the oil. Shot these tonight in the usual spot.
