River Road before the leaves quit

Saturday I finally did the color run I talk about every fall and never get around to. Up 75 in the dark, off at Standish and up 23 along the lake to Oscoda, then River Road west along the Au Sable and on out the back side toward Mio. Up there it is just about peak, the maples gone red and orange along the river and the oaks still hanging on green. Down by the water the leaves are already coming off and some of the side roads were half covered, which on a heavy bike keeps you honest. Came home across 72 through Mio to Grayling and down 75 with the light going. Right around five hundred miles in one day on a rigid. My back has opinions. Worth every one of them.

River Road in the middle of the morning. Maples on one side, pines on the other, and nobody else on it.

One of the gravel roads down toward the river. The bobber was not built for this and did it anyway.

Last of the light near Grayling. Pines and nothing else for miles.

Five hundred miles on a rigid in one day. Respect. My whole fall color run is 9W up to Bear Mountain and back, and on the cafรฉ seat even that hurts ๐Ÿ˜‚
