Chain, sprockets and a pair of billet adjusters

222.00 USD 28.08.2026
The old chain came off in one piece, which is more than I expected. It had been on the bike since before I owned it and the tight spot near the master link had got bad enough that I was adjusting it every other ride and still hearing it slap the guard on the way down Trona Road.

Went with a sealed X-ring this time. The gold plating is just what the box came with, I am not going to pretend otherwise, but out here everything gets sandblasted whether you want it or not and a sealed chain holds its grease a lot longer than the cheap one I pulled off. New rear sprocket while I was in there, because there is no point putting a fresh chain on worn teeth, and the front one too. Twenty two dollars. Skipping it would have been stupid.

The adjusters are the part I am happiest with. The stock blocks were bent, one of them had been hammered flat at some point by whoever had the bike before Barstow, and getting the wheel straight was a guessing game every single time. The billet ones have marks you can actually read with dust on them. Set the slack in the middle of the range, spun the wheel, then checked it again after ten miles out toward the Pinnacles and it had not moved.

The stock adjuster marks are useless the second there is any dirt on them, I squint at mine every time. Never thought of billet blocks for that reason alone. Stealing that one.

Cheap for what they fix. The ones that came on mine were bent, so anything with a mark I could read was already an upgrade.
