Up the river on 35

Took last Friday off and ran across the state with Dave, out to La Crosse and then up the Great River Road on 35 with the Mississippi on our left the whole way. Left Milwaukee at six in the dark and it was the first morning this year I wanted the winter gloves. By Tomah the sun was up and we could lose a layer. Color is only getting started out there, mostly green on the bluffs yet with some maples going orange in patches and the sumac already red along the ditches. Give it two weeks and that road will be bumper to bumper with leaf peepers. Stayed the night in Alma, pie in Stockholm on Saturday because you have to, then up along Lake Pepin to Bay City and home across the middle of the state. Dave brought his drone this time, so for once there are pictures where the Slim isn't the whole frame. Right around six hundred miles and not a drop of rain.

Dave got the drone up south of Alma just as the sun was going. That's 35 down there with the river right alongside it.

Saturday morning along Lake Pepin. Still mostly green, but you can see it starting.

Pie in Stockholm because you have to is my kind of rule. Six hundred miles in October and not a drop of rain, you two earned that one.
