Left it late tonight and rode out to Cheddar with the traffic finally gone, had most of the A38 to myself both ways. Stopped at the top of the gorge for ten minutes with the engine off, sheep somewhere above me and nothing else moving. Bristol was still warm when I got back in.
Cheddar that late is the only way to do it. Gorge in the middle of a Sunday is cars parked down both sides and nowhere left to stop.
That is the whole reason I left it so late. Daytime up there is a car park with a view.
