Reckon there's no better way to end a day than parked up at Burleigh Heads watching the sun drop into the hinterland behind ya. Got there yesterday arvo around half five, backed the Ninja into the grass near the lookout, and just sat on the tank for a solid twenty minutes doing absolutely nothing. Bloke next to me with a fishing rod gave me a nod like he understood exactly what was going on. No words needed.
The ride down from Brissie was mint - took the M1 to Nerang then cut through the back roads past Mudgeeraba. There's this one stretch where the road dips through a patch of rainforest and the temperature drops like five degrees instantly. You come out the other side and bang, there's the ocean. Gets me every single time, even after living here three years.
Stayed till the sky went full pink and orange, the kind of sunset that makes you feel like a wanker for even trying to photograph it because the phone never does it justice. Rode home in the dark with the visor up, warm salt air on my face, and thought yeah, this is exactly why I moved to the Gold Coast. Not the nightlife, not the beaches during the day - it's the arvos on two wheels that nobody tells you about.
