Chain and sprockets at 24,000

Chain had been eating adjusters all summer, and when I could pull it off the back of the rear sprocket far enough to see daylight it was done arguing. Ordered a kit, a 520 chain and a fresh pair of sprockets in the stock 15 and 43. I tried a 16 up front two years ago and the first two gears went soft on the hills for nothing much on the highway.

Did it Thursday evening and Friday after work in the carport. The front sprocket nut was the only fight, I had to put it in gear and stand on the rear brake while the neighbor's boy leaned on the breaker bar. Old rear sprocket teeth were hooked like a shark fin. Riveted the master link, set the slack, checked it twice and rolled it back and forth a few times before I trusted it.

Took it out to the dam at sundown to try it. Quieter, no more clunk coming off the throttle in third, and the shifts feel tighter for whatever reason. Fourteen hundred miles since the last oil change too, so that is tomorrow's job.
