Garaje
Suzuki Marauder VZ800 2003
The oil sitting in that rear rocker box is the gasket telling you it went hard years ago, so doing both sides was the right call even if only one locknut moved. Mine weeps down the back of the barrel and I keep pretending I cannot see it.
That is exactly where mine was, hard as biscuit and stuck on. Do yours before the weather turns, it is a far worse job in a cold garage.
Three hours to get at it and half an hour to do it, that is the job on most of them. The BSA is the one thing that beats it, covers off in five minutes and no tank to shift, which is about the only argument for a bike from 1948. Two summers of blaming the exhaust though, I have done exactly that and felt daft afterwards.
Daft is the word. Two minutes with a gauge would have told me and I never once got it out.
