Monday evening I ran out to the Narrows of the Harpeth and sat by the water a while. Two fellas were putting kayaks in and neither one of them was in any hurry about it either. The Heritage ticked itself cool, the light went orange on the far bank, and I came on home. Nothing else to it.
The Narrows stays quiet no matter what day you show up. Same thing down here along the river once it gets dark, everybody out there is doing their own slow thing and nobody bothers anybody.
